The following terms conditions must be agreed to in order to enter this contest.
Indicate your acceptance of terms on the contest entry form (generally by initialing
the provided boxes). Contest entry forms are available either from the department
announcement or from the department office by request when the current year's
contest is announced.
- I agree that submissions to any University prize contest in no way limits
the subsequent sale and publication of the material, as well as the University's
right to circulate the work submitted for any purpose including donor review.
Previously published materials, with the exception of materials that have
appeared in campus publications, are not eligible. The University does not
hold itself responsible for possible loss or damage thereto.
- I attest that this entry has not been published, has not been entered in
another contest in its entirety or any portion thereof, has not been a winning
entry, and has not been selected to represent UCSB in this or any other contest.
I know that if any of these factors are found to be true, my submission will
be eliminated.
- I realize that manuscripts will not be returned and that a copy must be
submitted and that manuscripts awarded prizes or selected to represent UCSB
will be filed in the UCSB English Department archives. Regarding Ina Coolbrith
and the Poet Laureate poetry contest submissions, I realize that winning manuscripts
are filed in the University Archives at the Bancroft Library on the UC Berkeley
campus.
- (Regarding the Frost essay contest) I am an admitted and enrolled full-time
undergraduate student of UCSB who is a declared English major and who is senior
or an upper-division student with at least 12 units in at least one regular
quarter of the current academic year (not including Summer Sessions). I know
that filing for a degree does not constitute enrollment for that academic
year.
- (Regarding the Vineyard short story contest and Ina Coolbrith poetry contest)
I am an admitted and enrolled full-time undergraduate student in one of the
UCSB colleges with at least 12 units in at least one regular quarter of the
current academic year (not including Summer Sessions). I know that filing
for a degree does not constitute enrollment for that academic year.
- (Regarding the Poet Laureate contest) I am an admitted and enrolled full-time
student with at least 12 units in at least one quarter of the current academic
year (not including Summer Sessions) in one of the UCSB colleges. I know that
filing for a degree does not constitute enrollment for that academic year.
