We'll begin with the essay's inventor Michel de Montaigne on experience, and then draw on a selection of essays by the originator of New Journalism Gay Talese, and by Joan Didion, Truman Capote, Susan Sontag, Annie Dillard, Anne Lamott, Hunter S. Thompson, Edmund de Waal, Ann Patchett, and other brilliant essayists and memorists.

Drawing on the these models of creative nonfiction, you will write about the aesthetics of living.
