What happens in the brain when we read fiction? This course examines the power of storytelling with reference to brain science and provides students with an understanding of how storytelling shapes our minds and how our minds shape stories. Course material includes 20th and 21st-century American novels, short stories, television drama, plays and graphic novels by authors including Alison Bechdel, William Faulkner, and Tony Kushner.
