John Ridland is a Research Professor in the English Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate School in 1964, and his central interests include poetry; verse writing; Robert Frost; and Australian/New Zealand literature. He is the author of several books of poetry, including Fires of Home (1961),Ode on Violence (1969), And Say What He is (1975), In the Shadowless Light (1978), Elegy for my Aunt (1981), and Palms (1993); as well as articles and essays in Quadrant, Helix, Southwest Review, Parnassus, and Light. Professor Ridland is currently at work on a poems, reviews, and essays.
