Cannon, Nissa

Ph.D. Candidate

M.A. University of California, Santa Barbara
B.A. University of California, Los Angeles

I study transatlantic modernism, citizenship, and print culture. My dissertation, “Paper Identities and Identity Papers,” considers how modernist expatriate identities are predicated on documents, such as the passport and the newspaper, and the ways transatlantic expatriate writers resist, reflect, and complicate these paper selves. After completing my BA at UCLA, I worked in film production in Los Angeles and London before beginning my graduate education.
