Textbook Requisitions

Requesting Textbooks

Textbook requisitions can now be made through the department's online Book Order Form!

The book order form allows instructors in the English department to submit their book order information electronically to the Instructional Program Assistant. This helps ensure that the order contains complete information, and allows us to submit book orders more efficiently.

Using the Online Book Order Form

  1. Sign up for an account at the new English Department website (under development).
    • Click here to jump to the "Create new account" page. An account is required to access the form.

Note: the new website is still in the development stage. The current website is still the main functioning website for the department.
    • Enter your desired username and E-mail address. Note that the E-mail address you enter must be valid, as it is where your password will be sent.
    • After filling in all required information and pressing "Create your account," check the address you entered. There should be a message with your password, and a one-time log in link. To log in and change your password, follow the link.
    • If you have any issues with account creation, please contact the Instructional Program Assistant via E-mail, or at (805) 893-8711.

  2. Fill out the Book Order Form.
    • Once you have an account on the site, you can find the Book Order Form under the "resources" menu, or click here.
      New English Department Website
    • Fill out all of the required fields.
    • To add an additional book, click on the "Book 2" line, and so on.
    • You can submit a maximum of ten books at once through the form.

  3. Once you're finished, click "Submit."
    • Orders submitted through the online form will automatically be sent to the department's Instructional Program Assistant.

Common issues with book orders

Following the receipt of the book-list, the Instructional Program Assistant forwards this information to the bookstore, and proceeds in requesting desk copies.

If any issues arise after an order has been submitted, you may be contacted with a request for information on a title/publisher, or to discuss possible alternatives. Issues which may affect book and desk copy requests and availability include:
  • Publisher policy (some do not provide desk copies)
  • Publisher status (out of business, overseas, etc.)
  • Publication/edition status (book/edition currently out of stock or out of print, etc.)
