Author of Site: The Linkbase differentiates between "Content Authors" and "Web Authors" (see below).

Web Author: Identifies: (A) creators of metapages, home pages, databases, and other information sites native to information media that do not have a print analogue or (B) HTML creators, editors, journals, or sites responsible for mounting the resource online. (Where the "Content Author" is also the "Web Author" or where the web authors are unknown, the web author field is left blank.) Use the Last Name field here for resources with combined authorship as well as for web sites, journals, or other resources with signature names (e.g., "The Labyrinth," "Voice of the Shuttle").

Categories and Keywords: In adding resources to the Linkbase, the developers often insert a phrase or name (e.g., "Fredric Jameson," "Cyborgs," "Architecture") in a keyword field to organize links under particular categories. This is especially helpful for links that bear on conceptual categories not explicitly mentioned in the link's title or descriptive annotation.

Alphabetical Category: (letter under which users can find resource; e.g., Lyotard would be "L")

Main Category: (used by Linkbase to organize links under author, work, and theme headings--e.g., "Jean Baudrillard." A general resource relevant to the topic of this linkbase should be "General Resource")

Alternate Category:
Other Categories:

Subcategory (used to sort linkswithin a category into such sub-sections as "General Resources," "Writings," "Criticism," etc. Do not use the "General Resources" designation if the main category of the link is "General Resources")

Keywords Relating the Linkbase to the Timeline database (The developers often repeat the main category designation above as well as add other keywords in this field to create a "relation" between the Linkbase and its associated Timeline database. This allows the Timeline to "look up" online resources in the Linkbase and include them in its search results as live links. Keywords include full names of important authors, works, and concepts. Coordination with developers of the relevant timeline is useful. (Important: one per line)

Notes: Use to include extra material or citations.
