This offering of “Writing for Performance” focused around African American performance forms. Readings and activities guide students in writing and devising work for the stage based on required critical material, memory exercises, storytelling, and interactive performance exercises. This course counts for the English Department's emerging Critical Creative Writing concentration that centers decolonial knowledges and practices. Our work focuses on engaged and creative ways of knowing the past and developing approaches to the future.
