Happily Ever After?: Classic Fairy Tales and Contemporary Revisions -- What can we learn from a return to the world of “once upon a time”? Many contemporary authors have revisited familiar figures such as Cinderella, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, the Little Mermaid, the Frog Prince, and Bluebeard, using these classic childhood tales to explore questions of power and privilege, gender and sexuality, growing up and growing old. In this course, we will read classic versions of fairy tales alongside contemporary revisions of these stories.
