Description:

From Puritan execution sermons, Indian captivity narratives, and slave narratives, to America's first book of poetry and the nation's founding documents, this course explores the rich multi-ethnic literature and culture of early America. Among the authors whose work we'll read will be John Winthrop, Mary Rowlandson, Anne Bradstreet, Phillis Wheatley, J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur, Olaudah Equiano, Thomas Jefferson, and Samson Occom (Mohegan).
