Careers in Law: “Why the Law?”

UCSB Alumni and Retired Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Frank J. Ochoa leads this interactive forum on considering a career in law.

Judge Ochoa earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and History at UCSB, and graduated from the UC Davis School of Law in 1975. Judge Ochoa was Executive Director of the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County. In 1983, he was appointed to the Municipal Court by Governor Brown—making him the youngest judge in the state at the time. Judge Ochoa was elected to the Superior Court of Santa Barbara in 1996, and retired from the bench in 2015.
