Maria Job is a PhD candidate in English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her dissertation, “Fantastic Grub: Eating Light, Sound, and Plastic in The Anthropocene,” examines multi-species eating that challenges capitalist damages to ecological and metabolic health. Her research shows how fantastical eaters imagined by contemporary poets, writers, and artists challenge the cultural imagination of food as fuel and calories. She holds an MA in Literature, Culture, and Theory from the University of Sussex, UK, and a BA in English from Women’s Christian College, Chennai, affiliated with the University of Madras, India.
