Owen Leonard a PhD student and former software engineer whose research examines the global cultural and infrastructural contexts of computation, particularly ML-assisted image and language processing. His ongoing web project Ground to Cloud collects journalism and research into the infrastructures of AI as realized at specific sites, allowing users to visualize the material patchwork of planetary computation. Owen is also the graduate researcher for the newly established Center for the Humanities and Machine Learning at UCSB.
