Manages all services and systems supporting research, instruction, and administrative functions for the English Department and the SASC, while coordinating with UCSB’s College of Letters & Science IT unit (LSIT) in its role of supporting common operational and technical resources. Maintains high availability of the English Department’s many research and other web sites. Researches and deploys new/upgraded IT services to meet the functional goals of the English department and SASC. Systems include 16+ linux and Windows servers and 30+ WordPress sites, data resources, and digital services for research, instruction, and collaboration. Research systems deployment involves working with faculty to provide high-level systems support, recommendations, and planning for multiple IT-oriented research projects and online resources; and on researching, designing, and deploying new/upgraded IT services that advance departmental and SASC IT resources. Meets with faculty on their needs and evaluates software deployments to meet those needs, e.g. wikis, document management systems, GPS/mapping sites, collaborative annotation systems, media archives, et cetera.
