This course will consider the genre of detective fiction as an inherently self-reflexive form of thinking through knowledge itself.  We’ll read both classic detective fiction and more explicitly postmodern examples through this lens, asking, “What does detection tell us about the general conditions of knowledge?  What is it really possible to know?”
